That is not the gas chamber at San Quentin State Prison in California. The gas chamber represented in that photo is a single rather than double seat facility as exists at San Quentin. What you have there is the single seat gas chamber that was used in the Wyoming State Penitentiary Rawlins, Wyoming.

Anthony, you appear to be correct and I thank you! This was a press photograph that stated, " This is how the death chamber of San Quentin may look after August 27, 1937 after legislators approved lethal gas execution". We had assumed incorrectly that it did end up looking like that..... Best regards, Ray
